It's been a while since I looked at Infobarrel and the last couple of days, I have punched out a couple of articles.
I am now up to 73 articles and will do my best over the next couple of weeks to hit the magic 100 articles. It's nice being able to see a large number of articles already under your belt.
Not only do they earn a bit of passive income, you can always go into the articles later and add relevant links to them.
I find also interesting to see after a few months which articles are ranking well and have the most traffic. No matter how much keyword research you do or link building, there is just no way of knowing what is going to work.
I just finished writing this article: How to get on the first page of Google

Article URL problems
I wrote an article on whether the MLM program Cosway is a scam or not. I added a question mark at the end of the article and Google indexed it without the question mark. So if you clicked on the URL from Google, you got a message "article not found".
I asked Infobarrel support to remove the question mark from the title, which they promptly did and now Google has indexed the article again with the question mark in it!
It is an interesting little experiment to see how Google works. It's nice to see that Google can rectify problems with URLs fairly quickly. I am just going to leave it for now and hopefully the link from here will help confirm the real URL of the article.

Big jump in points
I now currently have 341 points on Infobarrel. It doesn't really mean much, but who doesn't like keeping scores?!
I have over 50 articles now written and I have referred over 20 people. Each person you refer to Infobarrel, you earn 2% of all of their Adsense impressions. It is not a huge amount, but like they say "it all ads up" and it really can be counted as passive income.
I have started testing putting in the occasional relevant affiliate link to my articles. It will be interesting to see if I can make any way doing this. I am sure it will be better than just relying on Adsense.

Facebook group for Infobarrel
One of the features that Infobarrel lacks is a forum for members. Perhaps the owners of the site, don't want the extra hassle that running a forum brings and just want to focus on great content for the site.
Fortunately some members have started groups to join on Facebook, where you can promote your articles and discuss the various features of Infobarrel.

Update on writing articles for Infobarrel
I have now published around 28 articles on Infobarrel. I have just installed Google Analytics, so it is still difficult to know how much traffic the articles are getting.
I doubt I am making much, but I think I need to have at least 100 articles published to see some results. My goal for September is to have 50 articles of at least 450 words completed. It shouldn't be too hard to complete the goal if I stick with it.
Infobarrel also have another competition for this month. Basically you get points based on the following criteria:
1 Point - 400+ Words
2 Points - 800+ Words
5 Points - 1000+ words
When I first saw the competition, 1000 words seemed like beyond my ability, but this morning I somehow easily wrote a 1000 word article on a beginners guide to affiliate marketing. It is amazing how once I get started writing on a topic that I enjoy and know about, the writing just flows.
I think I am now going to aim for at three 1000 word articles, so I can get the 80% Adsene revenue share. I do like contests though, so I should make an effort to try and win. Wish me luck.

100 views in just a few hours
An Infobarrel which I wrote yesterday on Choosing the right dating software was just approved has already had 100 views!
I need to somehow get Google analytics installed on the site so I can see where the traffic is coming from.

One blogger's experience with Infobarrel
I just spent a few minutes searching on tips for making money online with Infobarrel and found this pretty good article.
The author has several good points about Infobarrel. It does make me worried a little that if you put in some hard work, it's very easy for Infobarrel to change their revenue split with writers.
So far I have only completed a few "barrels", as the author in that article points out, you need a lot of articles written. They wrote 100 in one week, which I think is a fantastic effort.
I was thinking of aiming to write just one a day! I really need to investigate how I can write good quality articles quickly.
